Hacienda La Prosperina
This 100-hectare coffee plantation supports the ongoing work of Naomi’s Village and the Medical Clinic.
Jipijapa is well-known for coffee production, which in the early 60s and 70s was one of the main sources of income for the country of Ecuador.
An Ideal Location
Hacienda La Prosperina is a 100-hectare (247.10 acres) farm in a privileged location 20 kilometers southeast of Jipijapa, 650 meters above sea level.
It has a very nice micro-climate with temperatures that go from 17°C to 23°C (62°F to 73°F) during the coolest season (between June and November). The rainy season goes from December through May with warmer temperatures. There is a biodiverse flora and fauna in the region, and it has many attractions for people who enjoy nature (trekking, climbing, bird watching, or simply camping). Biking is also common in the area.
Objective
To grow exceptional coffee and support the ongoing work of Naomi’s Village and the Medical Clinic.
We currently have an agreement with Nicki and Ron Coil to donate proceeds of an established, 4-hectare (9.88 acres) coffee plantation, 10 hectares (24.71 acres) of a new coffee plantation, and other crops or services provided by Hacienda La Prosperina (such as ecotourism, camps, etc.). These proceeds can help support the programs of the foundation.
New Coffee Plantation
We will plant 45,000 coffee plants in 10 hectares (24,71 acres) of coffee associated with fruit trees and plantains. Pictured here are the nursery and women working at the nursery for the new plantation.
